THE CHOICE

Ever since i could remember
being told that death sends us
to either god or satan, heaven or hell,
but the more i observe, and ponder,
it dawns upon me that this world
is both heaven and hell
we live the life we think
is reserved for us after our end,
within each of us lives a demon
and an angel, it’s the mouth we feed
that ironically engulfs us into its being
some men bequeath upon us hell,
demons worshipping a mythical god
pathetically attempting to justify their sins
others tend to the goodness inside them
they bring paradise to a planet that
somewhere lost its soul, and its purpose
if these angels and demons live freely within us
then of course, heaven and hell can’t function
as our afterlife destinations
they are a choice, that defines us
moulds us into who we are
our contribution to this world
in either polluting it with hatred,
or enriching it with the seed of
love, and hopefully a better world.

THE UNFORGIVING ROAD TO GLORY

Each day, everyday, I suffer endlessly
to quench the unforgiving thirst,
of the merciless purpose, the goal of my life.
It burns the insides of my heart
with a furious passion, a lustful desire
that destroys me, and builds me
it renders me powerless
yet somehow has become all i want
is that goal worth achieving?
i know not, but i shall stop not
until i conquer it because it is all i have known
and everything else just falls apart in front of it.
in a sea of meaningless things,
the only sound of reason emanates
from that purpose, and it shows before it
a path engulfed with daunting flames,
a road burning with glory.
It deprives me of an easy life
but it also reminds me that the easy life
is not worth living if it doesn’t end emphatically
at the top of the world, where i belong
and hell, i will destroy myself everyday if that means
my fallen body lies at the threshold
of the final destination, maybe breathless,
maybe lifeless, but, proud and glorious.

THE MIRAGE?

She must have come from a land distant
a mirage maybe, too good to be real
the most beautiful thing I had laid my eyes on
but she was not a fragment of my imagination
as the holes in her soul proved her human
To me, she was perfect in all her imperfect ways
her skin gleamed tantalizingly like nothing I had seen
somehow, her flaws made her ridiculously flawless
and when I breathed her in, even the demons within me
longed to replace chaos with eternal tranquility
when she spoke with that enchanting voice of hers
it felt like the most melodic song my ears were treated to
when she wrapped her arms around me, the mere touch of
her caressing hands made me draw a blank
to all hateful presence in my heart
oh, how I yearned to lose myself within the depths of her eyes
and find myself again, staring in awe
at that embodiment of imperfect perfection
I didn’t want to fall in love with her
for falling represented an ill timed accident
this lady was no accident, for she was destiny
And I chose to guide myself into love, within all my senses,
To hold her hand, and spend the rest of my days
buried in her heart, embedded in her mind, etched in her soul

THE MISTRESS OF DEATH

We all live with a mystical sword dangling above our heads
It exists within the depths of the darkness of our shadow
It haunts our dreams, triggers terror in our heart
and falls, kills, slays when we expect not
sending us into a deep slumber for all eternity
Such is the cruelty of the most mysterious mistress
She is lady death, whose allure is as baffling as it is terrifying
However, her existence serves a far greater purpose
Than laying people in their graves
She represents the uncertainty of the end
I know now, that she can take anyone, anytime
Our clock moves backwards, rather than forward
Limited time to achieve undying greatness
the greatest mystery lies in not knowing when
the greatest challenge lies in figuring out how
the greatest labour in going out and actually doing it
Like all sane men that roam, I fear death
But it is not the idea of the end that unnerves me
It is my qualm of meeting it with
Unfinished business staining my agenda
So I ask myself, if I were to die tomorrow,
will my mind be burdened with regret
will my heart be tarnished by hatred
will my soul be intoxicated with shame
If your clock were to run out tomorrow
Will your life truly have been complete?

DARE TO DIFFER

I see there a large gathering
People with varying goals, and different souls
Yet they all stand together side by side
Not in an unshakable feeling of unity
But out of the fear of embracing their own selves
And now they must stand hand in hand
because it is the only way they know how
But I walk past them on my own road
Showing no regard to their established paradigm
I was an outlaw to their law of the land
For when they lost hope, I dared to believe
For when they fell, I dared to rise
For when they fed me ideas, I dared to form mine
For when their ears could not grasp the music, I dared to dance
People restricted to thinking what they should, not what they want
And there existed not an agent of change
As they were transformed into puppets of the paradigm
I felt I now had a greater purpose to serve, for
It is when someone dares to differ,
That they dare to believe, and it is only then
That they dare to change, finally causing
Humanity to propel ahead with meaningful progress, with
Gaping mouths and applauding hands, and now they realize
That they need us, yet they fear us, for they cannot be us
And us is the might to dare.
